Cybersecurity Career Convos: Riley Horn – Life of a Systems Engineer
Cybersecurity Career Convos: Riley Horn
Riley Horn is a Systems Engineer who enjoys innovating and revolutionizing the way even the simplest tasks are completed. Since a young age, he was always tinkering with one technology or another, and over time it worked out for him. At the age of 15, Riley was diagnosing and repairing family and friends computers, removing pesky viruses, and increasing performance over all. With a go-getter attitude and the opportunity to be part of the Cisco Networking Academy, he passed the CCENT Certification (Cisco Certified Entry Network Technician) at the age of 18, and then passed the CCNA Certification (Cisco Certified Network Associate) nearly a year later. With a large grasp of knowledge in a variety of technologies, including Windows Server, Linux, Cisco IOS, and VMWare, as well as knowledge in scripting languages, Riley accepted a job offer as a Systems Engineer in downtown Baltimore, Maryland. While working as a Systems Engineer, Riley deploys customer servers to many geographic locations around the world in managed hosting environments. When not deploying systems worldwide, Riley is automating the server provisioning process through Ansible, a server deployment platform. Through Ansible, he is able to perform hours of manual configurations within minutes, all with the click of a button.
