Hacking 101: Introduction to Linux

Get your hacking hands dirty with an introduction to Linux. This is not your typical lecture-based workshop! We’ll take you through the history and an overview of Linux, including a look at the GUI and CLI. After this preparation from the instructor, you’ll dive in yourself and navigate the CLI in your virtual Ubuntu desktop.

This SecureSet Hacking 101 workshop is eligible for 2 hours of CPE credit! Ask a SecureSet staff member at the event if you would like to receive a CPE certificate.

What you’ll need:
+ Laptop and power cord
+ Ability to access 802.11n (2.4 GHz) wireless
+ VirtualBox with Ubuntu Desktop 16.04.05 preinstalled*
+ Curiosity and a desire to learn

*If you need assistance with installing a virtual Ubuntu machine, contact us and we will send you detailed instructions to help you out!

Parking:
Public parking is available in the Palm Parking Garage. There are two-hour parking spots available along the street as well. The main entrance to SecureSet is located on the patio at the East side of the old Don Vicente hotel. You will see an open black gate at the back-right corner of the East patio. Take the stairs to the second-floor patio and enter through the French doors.
