Hacking 101: Network Discovery NMAP

This 101 illustrates the many uses for Nmap and gives attendees a hands-on opportunity to utilize them. Network Mapper (Nmap) is a tool used for network scanning and host detection. Nmap is an extremely valuable tool that is used in several steps of penetration testing. Nmap is not limited to being solely an information gathering tool though It also serves as a vulnerability detector and a security scanner.

Instructor Bio:
Matt Brown is a Senior Security Analyst for Distil Networks where he designs and implements SOC tools and processes to protect company infrastructure from security threats. Matt graduated from Iowa State University with a masters degree in Information Assurance where he worked as a research assistant in the PowerCyber Lab that studied the intersection between information security and bulk power system dynamics. In his free time, Matt loves participating in CTF events and teaching others about offensive security topics. Matt is currently working towards obtaining his OSCP certification.
