Hacking 101: AppSec
This 101 gives attendees a hands-on experience with both attack and defense in an application environment. Application Security (AppSec) is the use of software, hardware and procedural methods to combat vulnerabilities and protect critical data from external threats. Effective AppSec hinges upon an organization’s ability to examine and plug the “holes” that are present in the software used to run their business.
Hacking 101: AppSec will be taught by SecureSet instructor, Serge Borso CEO, SpyderSec. In addition to teaching for SecureSet, Serge Borso is the Chief Executive Officer of SpyderSec. Serge in an active member in the information security community and has an extensive history in this industry. He has developed enterprise penetration testing programs, been involved in implementing transparent biometric security systems, creating and implementing security awareness training solutions and vocally advocating for tighter application security. Serge also currently works with the SANS Institute to teach SEC542: Web Application Penetration Testing and Ethical Hacking. The embodiment of a well-versed CEO, Serge has engaged in activities ranging from dumpster diving for PII to developing a patent-pending information security awareness solution.

There is a paid lot at the corner of 21st and Blake. Meters are easily accessible for $1.00 per hour. If you go north of 23rd on Blake, Market or Welton, there is street parking for free and you can walk in.
If you consider yourself a cybersecurity n00b, then Hacking 101 is for you. Each event will feature a hands-on workshop designed to boost your cyber-skills. Hacking 101 is an opportunity for you to gain technical knowledge and find out if cybersecurity is something you’re passionate about. No experience is required. Just show up and learn something new!
